BUSUNU - BLUE + CITY


Busunu is the largest village which lie along the road from Fufulso to Damongo(a District capital) The village has a fertile and vast land which make the habitant endolge in farming activities. The chief of Busunu is called 'BUSUNUWURA' who is its tradition governor including about seven sub-villages. The people speak the Gonja language meaning their ancestors are traced to be wards of a famour warrior in the ancient times; Ndewura Jakpa.
With climatic changes, Busunu experiences only one rainy season accompany with a prolong dry season commonly called 'Gbingban' or harmattan. The poor drainage system make it dangerous for one to build at the outskirt this village,there by creating a lot of slum. The buildings in this village are nucleared making it impossible for easy driven through the township. Unlike most villages in the Northern Ghana, Busunu is a villge with facilities. They include: two Primary and Junior High Schools, portable drinking water, solar electrification, a market, a clinic, two teachers abodes, an Area Council, etc. Different tribes like Dagombas, Fulanis, Hangas, Sisalas etc also constitude the ethnic groups this village. Population of this locality rised from about 2038 last year to about 2193 this year. Also, about 47 deaths have been recorded last year. Cultural transformation is a hundred percent transmission from the elders to the youth through festival (fire festival or jintingi, damba festival, idd festivals), organisation of youth jamborees, imposting of some traditional taboos and punishments,introduction of cultural dances and studies in the school curriculum.
Busunu always shine on top when they talk of cleanliness. After waking up every dawn, what comes to the mine of every household is sweeping round the compoud amist singing with the beats of the broom playing the instrumentals which makes it seem like a communal labour every morning for the people of Busunu.
